Here are three top tips when considering buying a lampshade, to help you make the right decision with your purchase.
1. Colour - might seem obvious but make sure the colour fits in with the room you are buying for. Bear in mind that the lampshade will look a shade different when illuminated, picture it as it is and as lit
2. Light distribution - how much light do you want to come from the lampshade. The traditional tent like shades will provide a warm light but you might not always be able to read from it if it is too soft. Cylindrical lampshades will provide a brighter burst of light for your room
3. Style - as with colour, look around the room you are buying the lampsahde for. What's the look and feel? Modern? Traditional? Retro? Buy something in keeping with the style of the room, although some themes can go together, such as a funky, retro lampshade in a modern environment.
